John McNellis is a Palo Alto-based retail developer and investor. Since its inception nearly 30 years ago, McNellis Partners has developed more than 50 projects in Northern California, primarily shopping centers ranging from 30,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet.


McNellis serves on the national board of trustees for the Urban Land Institute and is a ULI governor. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and serves on the Policy Advisory Board for the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. He also serves on the national board of directors for Outward Bound USA and the board of Rebuilding Together Peninsula, a volunteer partnership to rehabilitate homes and community facilities. He is a former board member of Lambda Alpha International (Golden Gate Chapter), an honorary society for the discussion of landuse and economics. On occasion, he lectures for the ULI, the ICSC and Stanford University’s schools of business and law.
