Jeffrey M. Giller, former managing principal of San Francisco’s Liquid Realty Partners, has joined with Brendan MacDonald to form Clairvue Capital Partners and Clairvue Realty Advisors.

Clairvue Realty Advisors is partially owned by investment funds managed by Goldman Sachs’ Private Equity Group, according to a Clairvue announcement of the business formation. Goldman Sachs has also provided the initial capital commitment to Clairvue Capital Partners’ first fund.

Clairvue Capital Partners intends to exploit the troubled commercial real estate business environment through the recapitalization of real-estate funds, real-estate operating companies, institutionally managed property portfolios, joint ventures, investor balance sheets and other types of real-estate platforms in need of restructuring.

The company will operate out of One Bush St. in San Francisco.

“We are thrilled to be in partnership with Goldman Sachs and feel that their investment savvy, long-term stellar reputation, global reach and financial strength will be extremely accretive to our business,” Giller and MacDonald said in a prepared statement.

They declined additional comment.

Giller’s former firm, Liquid Realty, is also a secondary investor focused on real estate and a range of investor classes including institutions, funds, partnerships, trusts and joint ventures, according to its Web site.
